Application Steps/Process

Application Deadline:  January 15th, 2019

Step 1:  Cal State Apply

Complete Cal State Apply Graduate Application for Admission at: https://www2.calstate.edu/apply/graduate

Please use one of the major/program objectives shown below on the Cal State Apply application (CODEL Admission is for fall semester of each year). Note: Choose between either the P-12 CODEL specialization or Community College/ Higher Ed.

You will be applying for Fall semester admission at California State University, Fresno, though coursework will actually begin with the Summer Residency in June.

Step 2:  Official transcripts

One official transcript copy from each college or university attended. Please send to:

Note: If the last school you attended was Fresno State, no transcripts are required.

Step 3:  GRE General Test

Please have your GRE test scores sent to California State University, Fresno.

Three Letters of Recommendation. Also note each LOR must be accompanied by the CODEL Educational Leadership Recommendation Form, see page 6 of CODEL application.

CODEL Program Policy on Graduate Entrance Writing Requirement

Applicants to CODEL must meet a Graduate-level entrance writing requirement. The CODEL Faculty Graduate Group adopted a minimum score of 4.0 on the GRE Writing portion of the examination. If a student is offered admission and does not meet these criteria, s/he will be offered a “conditional admittance” with a requirement that they must attend the Graduate Writing Studio at either CSU Channel Islands or Fresno State and pass a writing exam administered prior to the completion of their first year in the program. The writing exam and scoring rubric will be developed and scored by a subcommittee of the CODEL Faculty Graduate Group.

REMINDER: YOUR APPLICATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED UNTIL ALL SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS AND TEST SCORES HAVE BEEN RECEIVED!
